NanimeW Japanese cinema & music night

NanimeW presents a monthly showcase of the best in Japanese pop culture cinema, animation and music -- eclectic, innovative and unique.

The next night will take place on Wednesday 1 December 2010, upstairs in the café bar at the Greenroom on Whitworth Street, Manchester (beneath Oxford Road train station).

The programme will be as follows:

7:30pm  :  music  :  DJ Happosai
8:00pm  :  anime short  :  Mount Head (Atama-yama) - When a miserly man swallows some cherry stones rather than throw them away, a cherry tree starts to grow out of the top of his head.
8:10pm  :  anime short  :  Franz Kafka's A Country Doctor (Kafuka: Inaka Isha) - A dark, surreal tale about a hapless country doctor called out to attend an ill boy one cold winter's night, adapted from the Kafka short story Ein Landarzt
8:30pm  :  music  :  DJ Z Zeta Z
9:00pm  :  live-action film  :  9 Souls - Nine convicts escape from their shared prison cell and set out to track down a hidden stash of loot another cellmate told them about, but things don't go to plan, in this comedy drama.
11:00pm  :  music  :  DJ Happosai
11:30pm  :  finish

All screenings will be with original Japanese dialogue and English subtitles. The programme may be subject to change without notice.
