Princess Mononoke (Mononoke Hime) film screenings at the Cornerhouse, Manchester

29 July to 4 August 2005

Dir. Hayao Miyazaki, 1997; Cert. PG; 2hr13min; Dubbed

Until Miyazaki's Spirited Away broke its record, Princess Mononoke was the most successful film ever at the Japanese box office. Set in medieval Japan, it's the tale of a demon-cursed young warrior who travels far in search of a cure. His journey leads to a forest where animal gods, led by the eponymous princess, are fighting against human invaders, in an echo of the eco-battles of contemporary Japan.
