Monday film screening at the Cornerhouse, Manchester

Saturday 29 January 2005

Dir. Sabu, 2000; Cert. TBC; 1hr40min; Subtitled

One Monday morning a man in a black suit wakes up in a hotel room with no idea how or why he's there. Then he spots the packet of special salt used after funerals to banish evil spirits. Suddenly, fragments of memory return. 'funeral... cafe... bar... yakuza...' Was it a dream? Cult director Sabu spins this masterfully constructed black comedy in which an ordinary salary man finds himself the victim of increasingly bizarre and unlucky coincidences. Winner of the Critics Prize, Berlin Film Fest 2000.
